Your First Colonic?
You Are in the Right Place
Los Angeles · Colonics
If you are curious about booking your first colonic but feel a little nervous, unsure, or even embarrassed, you are not alone. At Fernz Wellness, first time clients are guided through every step in a calm, private, relaxing space.
Is It Normal to Feel Nervous?
OPEN SYSTEM COLONICS IN LA
Will it hurt?
It should not. You may feel gentle fullness or pressure, but not sharp pain. More on this below.
Will I be exposed?
No. You are draped and private, and you are not on display to anyone during the session.
Will there be odor?
No. Waste leaves through a closed, vented system, so there is effectively no smell and no mess.
What if I need help?
Megan is right there and checks in throughout. You are guided, never left to figure it out alone.
Is it embarrassing?
It can feel vulnerable, which is why the whole experience is built to be private and discreet.
Will I know what to do?
Yes. You get a full walkthrough before anything begins, so you are never guessing.
Completely normal. Almost every first time client walks in with the same quiet questions and a few nerves, and almost every one of them leaves surprised at how calm and straightforward it was. Feeling unsure before something new does not mean it is not for you. It just means it is new.
Here is what we want you to know before you book. Nothing is rushed. Everything is explained. You stay in control the entire time, and you can pause, slow down, or ask a question whenever you want. This is something we help people through every single day.
Most of the worry lives in the questions people are afraid to ask out loud. So let's answer them.
Why the LIBBE System is Perfect for First-Timers
The reason a first colonic at Fernz feels so much less intimidating comes down to the open system we use. Here is how the LIBBE takes the pressure off.
-
Your session happens in your own private space. This is not a clinical table in a shared area. It is quiet, calm, and yours.
-
The disposable tube is only about the width of a pencil, and you insert it yourself. Nothing happens that you are not in charge of.
-
Unlike a hands on closed system, you are not being actively worked on throughout. Once you are set up, the release process is private and self guided.
-
Waste leaves directly through a closed, vented system. There is no smell and no mess to manage.
-
Warm, purified water flows in slowly by gravity, never forced. You are never pushed into anything, and you set the pace.
-
Once you understand the rhythm, most first timers relax into it. It tends to feel far less invasive than people imagine.
What Happens During Your First Colonic
Here is exactly how a first visit flows, from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave.
Arrival
You arrive at the studio and are welcomed calmly, with no rush. We do a short intake to talk through how you are feeling, your goals, and anything on our contraindications list, so we can make sure this is the right time for you.
Private Room Setup
You are shown to your private room, and the LIBBE open system is explained clearly. Feel free to ask any questions. Nothing begins until you feel ready.
Getting Comfortable
You settle onto the LIBBE table, draped and private, and get comfortable at your own pace. When you are ready, you gently insert the small disposable tube yourself. Support is available if you need it, but this part stays private.
Gentle Water Flow
Warm, purified water flows in slowly. You may feel a sense of fullness or mild pressure, a little like the natural urge to have a bowel movement. It can feel unfamiliar at first, but it should not feel sharp or painful.
Release
Release happens naturally, and waste exits directly through the closed system, with no odor and no mess. You do not have to keep getting up and running to a bathroom throughout the session.
After the Session
You get dressed and can use the restroom if you like, Megan goes over simple aftercare with you. Many people feel lighter, while some feel calm or a little tired. Every body responds differently, and that is completely normal.
What Does a Colonic Feel Like?
A colonic usually feels like gentle filling, pressure, and release. Some people feel mild cramping or a natural urge to have a bowel movement as the water enters and releases.
How to Prepare, and What to Do After
A little easy preparation helps your first session go smoothly.
Before Your Session
- Eat lighter meals the day before, and go easy on heavy, fried, or processed foods
- Skip alcohol the day before
- Drink plenty of water in the day or two leading up
- Try not to eat for at least two hours beforehand
- Wear comfortable, easy clothing
- Give yourself enough time to arrive without stress
- Do not overthink it, we will guide you through the rest
After Your Session
- Keep hydrating with water, and electrolytes if you like
- Choose gentle, easy to digest foods like broth, soup, and steamed vegetables
- Simple proteins are a good choice for the rest of the day
- Take it easy, no intense workouts or heavy exertion right after
- Avoid alcohol, fried food, heavy meals, and excess sugar after your colonic
- Rest if you feel tired, and enjoy the light feeling if you feel great

-
The most common sensation is a gentle, warm fullness as the water flows in. Many people find it oddly soothing once they settle in.
-
You may hear your belly gurgle and feel some pressure that builds and then eases with release. This is your body doing exactly what it should.
-
Some people feel light, passing cramps, similar to a normal urge to go. If it feels like too much, you can slow down or pause at any point.
-
Many clients feel noticeably lighter and more comfortable when they are done. Some also feel calm, and a few feel a little tired.
-
There is no single right way to feel. Your body may respond differently than a friend's, and that is normal. Most first timers relax once they understand the rhythm of the session.
Who is a First Colonic Good For?
IS THIS RIGHT FOR YOU?

-
If the idea of doing this with calm guidance and full privacy appeals to you, you are in exactly the right place.

Who Should Not Book Yet?
A colonic is not right for everyone, and some situations mean you should wait or check with your doctor first. Please hold off and speak with a medical provider if any of these apply.
-
Active rectal bleeding, severe abdominal pain, a fever or active infection, recent colon, rectal, or abdominal surgery, an active Crohn's or ulcerative colitis flare, severe hemorrhoids, pregnancy unless your doctor clears you, serious heart or kidney conditions, and any unexplained weight loss are all reasons to wait and check with a medical provider first.
-
If you are managing any health condition or are unsure whether a colonic is safe for you right now, please talk to your doctor before booking. We are always happy to answer questions too.
-
Please read every item on our contraindications page before you book, since refunds cannot be issued if you arrive unable to proceed safely with your session.
Please review our Contraindications Page.
A First Colonic vs. an At-Home Cleanse
If you have looked into cleanse teas, laxatives, or DIY kits, here is a look at how a professional colonic compares.
At-Home Cleanses
- Teas, laxatives, supplements, juice cleanses, and enemas
- Unpredictable timing and urgency
- Easy to overdo, with a risk of dehydration if overused
- Not personalized to you
- No guidance if something does not feel right
A Professional Colonic at Fernz
- A private studio and a trained practitioner
- Warm, purified water and the LIBBE Open System
- Sanitary, single use disposable equipment
- Preparation and aftercare guidance
- A supportive environment with no guessing
Neither is a cure for anything. For a nervous first timer, having professional guidance and a calm, private setting simply makes the experience easier and more supportive.
