Experience private, gravity-fed colon hydrotherapy with the LIBBE Open System in Los Angeles
What is the LIBBE Open System?
OPEN SYSTEM COLONICS IN LA
The LIBBE Open System is a gravity fed colon hydrotherapy device that gently cleanses the large intestine with warm, filtered water. The name stands for Lower Intestinal Bottom Bowel Evacuation, and it is the system we use for every colonic at Fernz Wellness.
Instead of pressurized water and a therapist held speculum, the open system lets you recline on a contoured table, insert a soft, pencil thin disposable tube yourself, and release naturally and privately into a basin built into the table. There is no forced pressure, no mess, and no odor. Most clients tell us the experience is far easier and more relaxing than they expected.
What Makes the LIBBE Open System Different
Every detail of the open system is built around two things, a gentle cleanse and your comfort. Here is what that looks like during a session.
-
Water flows in slowly by gravity rather than being pumped or pressurized. This is what makes the open system feel so mild, even for first timers.
-
Every drop passes through carbon filtration and ultraviolet purification, which removes sediment, rust, chlorine, and microbes before it reaches you.
-
The water stays in a comfortable, body safe range from start to finish, so the session feels soothing the whole way through.
-
You insert a soft disposable nozzle about the width of a pencil. It is much smaller than the speculum used in closed systems, and it is discarded after every session.
-
Waste releases directly into the table basin and plumbing, with a vented exhaust system. That means no mess to manage and effectively no smell.
-
You decide when the water flows and when to release. Your colon hydrotherapist is nearby the entire time, but the pace of the session is always yours.
Many clients find the LIBBE Open System more comfortable, more private, and easier to relax with than a closed system.
Open vs. Closed
LIBBE Open System vs. Closed System
Every colonic device is either open or closed. Here is how the LIBBE open system we use compares to a closed system.
| LIBBE Open System Used at Fernz Wellness | Closed System | |
|---|---|---|
| Water Flow | Gentle, gravity fed, with no pressure | Pump assisted, pressurized flow |
| What Is Inserted | You insert a soft, pencil thin disposable tube | The therapist inserts a larger speculum |
| Privacy | Private and self guided, therapist nearby on request | Therapist is hands on throughout the session |
| Who Controls It | You decide when water flows and when you release | The therapist manages the fill and drain cycles |
| Comfort | Smaller tube, recline and let go at your own pace | Larger speculum and a therapist led pace |
| Waste and Odor | Flows out into the table basin, vented, no odor | Drained back out through the tubing |
| Often Best For | Most healthy adults who want comfort and privacy | Those needing more hands on assistance |
Both systems are effective. The open system simply puts more of the experience, and the privacy, in your hands.
Benefits of the Open System
WHY CLIENTS CHOOSE THE LIBBE
A LIBBE session supports the body’s own cleansing and elimination in ways many clients describe as a reset. Results vary from person to person, but here is what our Los Angeles clients notice most.
Bloating and Heaviness
By helping clear waste from the lower colon, an open system colonic can leave you feeling lighter and less full.
Supports Regularity
A gentle cleanse can help ease occasional constipation and support a more comfortable, predictable rhythm.
Digestive Reset
Clearing the colon gives sluggish digestion a fresh starting point and can make everyday meals feel easier.
Energy and Lightness
When the body is not holding on to excess waste, you can feel more energized and clear headed.
Natural Support
Hydrating the colon supports the body’s own elimination pathways as it does its daily work.
A Calm, Private Reset
The unhurried, self paced nature of the open system is something clients find genuinely relaxing.
Please review all contraindications on our Contraindications Page carefully before booking, as refunds cannot be issued if you arrive unable to proceed with your scheduled treatment.

How a LIBBE Session Works
THE PROCESS
-
We start with a short check in to review your goals and any prep. Avoid eating for at least 2 hours before your appointment, keep your meals light 12 hours prior and drink plenty of water before and after your session to stay hydrated.
-
You settle onto the LIBBE table in a private room, drape yourself, and insert the thin disposable tube yourself when you are ready. Warm, purified water then begins to flow in slowly.
-
When you feel the natural urge, you simply release into the basin below. The gentle fill and release repeats over about 45 minutes. Your colon hydrotherapist checks in throughout and is there whenever you need her.
-
Afterward you will have time to freshen up and settle. We recommend staying hydrated, eating light and nutrient rich for the rest of the day, and giving yourself a little space to rest.
A full visit at Fernz Wellness is about 60 minutes in the room, with roughly 45 minutes of gentle cleansing. Every session is guided by your colon hydrotherapist.

Is the LIBBE System Safe?
SAFETY AND STANDARDS
Safety is the foundation of every session. Colonic irrigation systems like the LIBBE are regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as Class II medical devices. At Fernz Wellness we pair that with single use supplies and certified care.
-
Colonic irrigation systems are regulated under 21 CFR 876.5220 and reach the market through the FDA’s 510(k) clearance pathway. The LIBBE colonic nozzle, for example, was cleared under 510(k) number K071057.
-
Every session uses fresh, disposable tubing, along with water that is carbon filtered, ultraviolet purified, and temperature controlled.
-
Your session is guided by a certified, LIBBE trained colon hydrotherapist who stays nearby for comfort and safety throughout.
Colon hydrotherapy is not right for everyone. Please review our Contraindications Page and talk with your doctor about any medical concerns. You can read the device classification on the FDA eCFR site.

What Does the LIBBE Open System Feel Like?
Most people notice changing sensations of water, abdominal fullness and the urge to release. You may hear or feel movement in the abdomen as your bowel responds.
Some people experience temporary cramping, pressure, gas or urgency. These sensations often lessen after a release, but every body responds differently. Water flow can be adjusted or stopped at any time.
Many first-time clients are most surprised by the level of privacy. You remain covered, control the insertion yourself and can choose how much therapist interaction feels comfortable.

-
The LIBBE is an open-system colon hydrotherapy device. You recline on a contoured seat, privately insert a small, single-use nozzle and receive a controlled flow of purified, temperature-regulated water. Water and bowel contents release around the nozzle into an integrated basin and drain.
-
The LIBBE normally allows the client to insert the nozzle personally and have periods of privacy. A closed-system appointment usually involves a therapist inserting and holding a larger speculum while directly controlling the filling and release cycles.
-
Not necessarily. Megan explains the equipment, starts the session and remains nearby. Some clients prefer ongoing assistance, while others prefer more privacy after they become comfortable with the process.
-
Yes. After receiving instructions, clients normally insert the small, lubricated, single-use nozzle themselves in privacy.
-
The manufacturer describes it as approximately pencil-sized. It is much smaller than the speculum normally used during a closed-system colonic. The nozzle is inserted approximately two to three inches. Your colon hydrotherapist will explain the process before the session begins.
-
The system is designed with direct drainage and an odor-control ventilation system. This is intended to keep the experience discreet and minimize odor, although it is better to describe the system as odor-controlled rather than promise that no odor can ever occur.
-
People with certain gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, kidney or surgical conditions may not be eligible. Pregnancy and medications can also affect eligibility. Review the complete Fernz Wellness contraindications page and contact us before booking if you are uncertain.
