Contraindications

Colon Hydrotherapy

To keep you safe and ensure the best results, there are certain medical conditions where colon hydrotherapy should not be performed, unless specifically cleared by your physician or healthcare provider. Colon hydrotherapy is not permitted if you have any possible contraindications.

Please read the list below carefully. If any of these apply to you, talk to us before booking your session, and consult with your doctor if needed.

Your safety is our priority.

Abdominal hernia: If you currently have or have had surgery for an abdominal hernia.

Recent abdominal surgery: At least 12 weeks must pass after abdominal surgery before treatment.

Abnormal distension or masses: If you've been diagnosed with abnormal growths or swelling in the colon.

Acute liver failure: If you’ve been diagnosed with serious liver conditions.

Severe anemia: Especially if it hasn’t been treated or stabilized.

Aneurysms: If your doctor has diagnosed you with an aneurysm.

Colon cancer (carcinoma): If you've been diagnosed with cancer of the colon.

Heart conditions: Including recent cardiac surgery, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or heart failure.

Crohn’s disease: If you have been diagnosed with Crohn’s.

Colitis: Including ulcerative colitis or similar inflammatory conditions.

Dialysis patients: If you’re on fluid restrictions, a doctor’s note is required.

Diverticulitis: Active cases are contraindicated.

Rectal fissures or fistulas: If you have been diagnosed with either.

Active rectal bleeding: If you are experiencing bright red blood discharge.

Recent hemorrhoid surgery: Wait at least 12 weeks or bring a doctor’s note.

Intestinal perforation: If you have a history of intestinal tears or perforation.

Lupus: Please consult with your doctor first.

Pregnancy: Colonics are not recommended during the first and third trimester unless prescribed by an OB/GYN.

Recent rectal surgery: A 12-week healing period is required.

Renal insufficiency: If you have reduced kidney function.

Medication concerns: If you are on medications that weaken your intestinal wall, or for any major diagnosed condition, a doctor’s clearance may be required. Always check with your physician to make sure colon hydrotherapy won’t interfere with your treatment.

If you're unsure about anything listed here, we’re happy to help you talk it through, and we always recommend checking with your doctor if you have a condition you're managing.
