What is Electro Lymphatic Therapy?
Advanced Lymphatic Care in LA
Electro Lymphatic Therapy, or ELT, is a gentle, non invasive way to support your lymphatic system, the network of vessels that carries fluid, waste, and immune cells through the body.
Instead of relying on a therapist's hands and deep pressure, ELT uses a handheld device that delivers a light combination of gentle vibration, light, and low level electrical stimulation to the surface of the skin. This encourages the lymphatic vessels to move fluid more freely toward the lymph nodes, where the body can clear it.
Meet Your Lymphatic System
Your lymphatic system is a body wide drainage network that clears fluid and waste and helps power your immune system. Unlike blood, it has no pump of its own, so it relies on movement to keep flowing. When it slows down, you can feel puffy, heavy, or sluggish.
-
A busy junction where lymph from the upper body gathers before returning to the bloodstream near the collarbone. When it backs up, the upper body can feel congested and heavy. Gentle work here helps keep this important return route open.
-
A major drainage hub for the arms, shoulders, and upper body. This area can get sluggish after strain or certain surgeries. Supporting flow here helps the arms feel lighter and less full.
-
Home to the thoracic duct, the main channel where most of the body's lymph returns to the bloodstream. Gentle stimulation supports this central pathway that everything else feeds into.
-
Around a third of the body's lymph nodes sit deep in the abdomen. This is a big reason ELT includes gentle full body work, rather than only the arms and legs.
-
The main gateway for draining the legs and lower body. Long flights and long days of sitting can leave this area sluggish and the legs feeling heavy.
-
A key checkpoint for fluid making its way back up from the lower legs and feet. Supporting it helps ease that heavy, tired leg feeling by the end of the day.
ELT vs. Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Many people looking for a lymphatic massage have not heard of ELT, or that it can support drainage with far less hands on pressure. Both approaches have real value. Here is how they compare so you can decide what feels right for you.
-
ELT uses very light, device based stimulation, while manual lymphatic drainage uses a therapist's hands and rhythmic strokes. Both are gentle, but many clients find the light touch of ELT especially easy to relax into.
-
The vibration and light used in ELT are designed to help stimulate flow beneath the surface. Manual work is guided entirely by the therapist's hands and feel.
-
ELT can move efficiently across the full body in a single session, while manual drainage tends to focus more slowly on specific regions.
-
The ELT device delivers steady, even stimulation throughout, while the pace and pressure of manual work naturally vary with the therapist.
Why It Matters After Surgery
The lymphatic system does not have a central pump the way your heart pumps blood. It relies on movement, muscle activity, and breathing to keep fluid flowing. ELT gives that system a gentle, external nudge. Here is what is happening during a session.
-
The handheld device rests lightly on the skin and delivers soft vibration, light, and low level electrical waves. There is no deep kneading or firm pressure, so it stays comfortable throughout.
-
Many lymphatic vessels sit just beneath the surface of the skin. The gentle stimulation helps encourage stagnant fluid to move toward healthy lymph nodes, where your body naturally filters and clears it.
-
The practitioner moves the device slowly along the natural direction of your lymphatic flow, so the therapy works with your body.
-
Because the device is easy to guide, a session can cover the whole body, supporting broad drainage rather than focusing on one small area.
-
The device delivers even, consistent stimulation for the length of the session, which many clients find both effective and deeply relaxing.
ELT is a supportive therapy that works alongside good hydration, movement, and healthy habits. It is not a substitute for medical care
Benefits of Electro Lymphatic Therapy
WHY CLIENTS CHOOSE ELT
We work with clients recovering from a wide range of cosmetic and surgical procedures. Here are a few we see often.
Less Swelling
By encouraging trapped fluid to move, ELT can help ease the puffy, heavy, bloated feeling of fluid retention.
Supports Natural Detox
Moving lymph more freely supports the body's own pathways for clearing waste and cellular debris.
Supports Immune Function
The lymphatic system is central to immunity, so keeping it flowing helps your body do what it is built to do.
Eases Inflammation
Helping fluid move out of congested tissue can support less swelling, less heaviness, and better circulation.
Clearer Skin
Clearing congested lymph in the face and skin can support a fresher, less puffy, more radiant look.
Deep Relaxation
The slow, gentle rhythm of a session is genuinely calming and helps lower everyday stress.
Why Bodies Get Sluggish
Modern life is quietly hard on your lymphatic system. A few everyday culprits, and why gentle drainage helps.
Sitting All Day
Hours in traffic and at a desk mean your muscles are not pumping lymph the way movement does.
Long Flights
Cabin pressure and sitting still leave many travelers puffy and heavy, especially in the legs and ankles.
The Heat
Warm days plus a little dehydration can leave fluid feeling stuck and sluggish under the skin.
Salty Takeout
Restaurant and delivery food is often high in sodium, which encourages the body to hold on to water.
Always On Stress
Chronic stress and shallow breathing slow the gentle daily rhythms that keep lymph on the move.
Happy Hour
Alcohol dehydrates you and encourages puffiness, and it is an easy habit to fall into.
These are all part of modern life. ELT sessions can help your body catch up.

Myths About ELT

How Often Should You Book?
This answer depends on your goals and how your body responds. Here is the general guidance we share with clients.
-
If you are working on something specific, like reducing puffiness before an event or supporting recovery, a short series of sessions close together is common. We will help you plan it.
-
Many clients settle into a regular rhythm, such as monthly sessions, to keep their lymphatic system supported over time.
-
Some people feel a difference after one session, while others prefer a few before they notice the full effect. We will adjust your plan as you go.
-
ELT pairs beautifully with colon hydrotherapy for a deeper full body reset. Ask us about combining the two in our RESET session.

A little rhythm around your visit helps the results land. Here is the simple ritual we share with clients.
Day Before
Is ELT Safe?
For most healthy people, gentle lymphatic therapy is a safe and relaxing way to support the body.
-
ELT is light touch and works on the surface of the skin, with no deep pressure and no needles. Most clients find it calming from start to finish.
-
Lymphatic drainage is not appropriate for everyone. According to the Cleveland Clinic, you should avoid it if you have a blood clot, deep vein thrombosis, cellulitis or another active infection, heart failure, or kidney failure, and it should not be done over cancerous tissue or skin damaged by radiation. A fever is also a reason to wait.
-
If you are pregnant or managing a health condition, please check with your doctor before booking so we can make sure ELT is right for you.
-
As fluid moves, a few people feel mildly tired, thirsty, or notice a light headache afterward. Drinking water and resting usually settles this quickly.

Absolutely. ELT is one of the most effective therapies available for post-liposuction recovery. The vibrational, light, and electrical stimulation facilitates the removal of excess fluids, inflammatory waste, and cellular debris that accumulate following surgery. This helps reduce swelling, discomfort, and fibrosis while significantly accelerating the healing process. Many plastic surgeons recommend lymphatic drainage after liposuction, and ELT delivers those results more efficiently than manual massage.
-
Yes. ELT and colon hydrotherapy pair well for a deeper full body reset. Ask us about our RESET session that combines both.
